Avgust Bukovec’s contribution to beekeeping organisations

Abstract

Avgust Bukovec was active in the national beekeeping organisation and its Ljubljana branch, the Association of Yugoslav Beekeeping Societies and the Pan-Slavic Beekeepers’ Union. Upon joining the national beekeeping organisation in 1903, he became its secretary and a member of the committee. In later years, he was a member of the committee and vice-president, and in 1955 was elected honorary president of the organisation. Bukovec was the first president of the Ljubljana beekeeping branch. He was also an active member of the national beekeeping organisation as the editor of Slovenski čebelar (1925–1944). Bukovec was president and vice-president of the Association of Yugoslav Beekeeping Societies. He was a member of the permanent committee of the Pan-Slavic Beekeepers’ Union.
