Pan-Slavic Beekeeping Exhibition in Prague (1927) – an organised presentation of Slovenian beekeeping culture heritage abroad

Abstract
The Beekeeping Society of Slovenia (the then national beekeeping organisation), in cooperation with the Ljubljana Beekeeping Branch, as well as Anton Žnideršič and Jan Strgar, presented Slovenian beekeeping at the Pan-Slavic Beekeeping Exhibition in Prague in 1927. After a decision was made that the Society would take part in the exhibition, Bukovec’s suggestions in terms of the exhibits and preparation for the exhibition were approved. Among other things, Bukovec carefully planned the presentation of exhibits of Slovenian beekeeping cultural heritage. The curator of the Ethnographic Museum in Ljubljana, Dr. Stanko Vurnik, photographed painted beehive panels. Škofja Loka honey breads, which, in Bukovec’s opinion, represented folk art, were also included in the exhibition. The Pan-Slavic Beekeeping Exhibition in Prague in 1927 therefore also provided an opportunity for an organised presentation of Slovenian beekeeping cultural heritage abroad, the initiator and leader of which was Avgust Bukovec.
